synopsis
"Classic" is a British comedy with an absurd heart. Every family has a secret, and the secret is that it is not like other
families.
At its heart, "Classic" is a study of masculinity and the narrow template
men are offered—a look at the raw,
gaping wounds that are left untreated in silent families. It's a story of legacy, regret, and swallowed love, and about how
a hiding place can become a prison.
It also features dinosaurs and Donald Trump.
Our story takes place over 24 hours on the hard-washed North
Yorkshire coast
at a classic car show presided over by an aging northern patriarch who
calls a spade a 'bloody shovel.'
But the light is fading, and with it, the world as he understands it.
The arrival of his grown-up children forces him to face the past, think about his legacy, and make amends for years of emotional disrepair and time torn off unused.
Before the light goes out, he must learn about love and connection with complex human beings, as opposed to the simple and pure passion for his beloved
and priceless collection of classic cars.
